Angela Gussing

Bio

Ms Angela Gussing is the Regional Director for the Americas at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In this capacity, she defines, plans and directs the approach and policies of the ICRC in North and South America; she oversees and provides strategic guidance for the organization’s activities in the region and ensures that adequate support is given to the field delegations. The ICRC’s work in the Americas covers a wide range of needs of people affected by present and past situations of violence, with offices in 17 different countries. Ms. Gussing obtained her University Degree as a Bachelor of Arts in 1983 from the Instituto Superior de Administração in Lisbon, Portugal. She worked in the private banking sector in Switzerland as customer manager for Latin American countries before joining the ICRC in 1990. She is fluent in English, French and Portuguese, and has a solid command of Spanish and Italian.
