コースについて

The course aims to introduce the key assumptions of the international relations theory as a part of social science and as an analytic tool, focusing on the problems of war and peace, foreign policy decision-making, etc. The course combines historic approach and analysis of the modern political problems. The historic part shows the evolution of the international relations theory from being a part of political philosophy to its emergence as a special branch of political science, which is essential to understand the key ideas of the IR science. The lectures also include broad outline of the modern concepts and debates in the context of the contemporary political problems, such as rise of China and other emerging powers, threat of terrorism, US-Russia confrontation, etc. The lectures of the two outstanding Russian scholars and political analysts – Timofey Bordachev and Dmitry Suslov - cover such fields as the problems of international security and conflict resolution, international economic relations, foreign policy decision-making, global governance, the role of power in the IR. There are many typos in the English version of the course - on slides, in quiz questions and in subs.

It would be great if actual links were provided to the recommended readings, not just the article names shown on the slides.

Otherwise, the topic and material are quite interesting, especially the last lecture week (particularly for Russian learners).

The lectures and the professors are excellent. The material is very clear, insightful and flows coherently. My only negatives would be the testing - both the in-video questions and the module quizzes are prone to errors, the latter meaning that it took me more than one attempt sometimes to do a quiz (even though it shouldn't have).

Some times the transcript is confusing primarily because of the language. For example, Brexit is written as Braggs it or cooperation as corporation.

Please edit the transcripts before uploading.

Очень хорошая структура, интересный и информативный курс, но, к сожалению, предоставляемый уровень английского не позволяет поставить наивысший балл за курс

Very informative course content, but some 'right' answers in the quiz do not match with what I have learnt in the video, which becomes a bit confusing .
