How did your journaling go? Insightful, isn't it? Please keep that going. Journaling every day, you'll be forever grateful. Now that you have started to create a profile of what you know about yourself, related to getting the best from your performance, it's time to focus on the environment that will bring out the best in you. In step three, you will continue to complete the optimal performance worksheet, if you haven't already done so. It's time to complete the section labeled step two, which includes your insights from the Johari window as well as insights that you have gained from the journaling experience. Then, you'll complete the sections on strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots. Stop at that point, until after you've watched the upcoming video on elements that foster optimal performance. So, step three, it builds a picture of you, what you do well, what you could improve on. This analysis is essential to ensure you have an unvarnished picture of yourself. Remember, that the only way to reach a level of performance consciousness is to know this about yourself. This also by the way, includes discovering your blind spots. It is your blind spot area that will always trip you up. For example, it was only after I was given feedback that I was too passionate about explaining my points of view that I discovered that this blind spot actually hindered me. I had no clue that I was coming across that way. Finally, this step involves deciding which environment will facilitate you being able to perform at your best. That part of the step is quite critical. You may want to refer back to your responses, to your cope learning style to help there. Let me give you another personal example of the significance of this. I spent many successful years as a banker. I did well, however, the bureaucracy and risk aversion, which honestly is important to have in a financially stable bank did not fit my strengths nor my learning style. Now that I'm a consultant, the fit is much better, and I'm even more successful with my career. Now, watch this video and reflect on your optimal performance. Then complete the self analysis activity, which will start you on the path to building your own profile and plan for the future.
