[MUSIC] Hi, my name is Marla Yoshida, and I'm from Central California from a very small town and a farming area. And I've been teaching English for more than 30 years, mostly in the United States, but also in Japan. I've been teaching at UCI for 18 years, and I've studied a lot of languages, I've studied German and French and Spanish and Sanskrit and Japanese, but I'm not really fluent in any of those. And I really enjoy teaching pronunciation, and I want to show you my favorite pronunciation teaching tool. These are my giant teeth, and I use them to show how to pronounce certain sounds. If you want to know how to pronounce [SOUND] I can show you, here, put your tongue here [SOUND]. I really enjoy teaching pronunciation, and I hope you enjoy learning pronunciation. >> Hi, my name is Meg Parker. I've been teaching English for 20 years, and I've taught English in central and southern Mexico, in northern and southern California and in Portland, Oregon. I speak English, of course, but I also speak Spanish, and the thing that I enjoy the most about teaching pronunciation is teaching the rhythm and intonation of the language, we call that the music of English. >> Hi, my name is Emily Wong, and I'm an ESL and TEFL instructor at UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education. I'm originally from the Bay Area in Northern California, but I've been living in Southern California for almost 10 years. I've been teaching English for 15 years. I taught English in Japan, as well as in New York and the Bay Area. I grew up speaking Cantonese and English, and I also studied Mandarin and Japanese. When I'm teaching pronunciation, I enjoy listening to students use English naturally, so that I can highlight the problematic sounds and help them fix them, so that they can sound more native-like. I hope you enjoy learning pronunciation. [SOUND]
