Yeah during the next six weeks we will enjoy. >> [SOUND] >> [LAUGH] >> And be amazed with the interdisciplinary study of emotions. Sorry, my avatar is crazy. Also in the course, we're going to make out several important questions such as, why do we have emotions? For instance, what happens when somebody does not feel pain, or cannot identify and describe his own emotions? People with familial dysautonomia don't feel pain and for such reasons they don't react properly to body damages suffering from intense injuries and young deaths. People with alexithymia, Asperger syndrome, or autism cannot identify their own emotions or feelings, a necessary process for several health identifications. Or what happens when somebody is not able to recognize emotions into the others? The answer is very simple, they are out from social life because the coin of society is empathy. Without this skill, they have several difficulties in order to understand normal life. Because life is basically emotional. Even more, most of ethical systems are based on two principles, to avoid pain or to obtain pleasure. How to present pleasure of usually like popping bubble wrap. [NOISE] Anyhow, emotions regulate actions. In fact, in 1862 Charles Darwin asked himself which was a biological reason that could explain the existence of emotions. In order to clarify these questions we will have to look at new sciences, anthropology, psychology, or philosophy among other fields. Some other relevant questions are, are there some emotions more basic than others? >> Mom? >> Are we able to classify existing emotions. Where do they happen? To feel or not to feel, that is the question. Emotions help us to guide our actions. To give adequate answers to necessities. To survive as living entities, but at the same time make possible different strategies using similar bodies. Feelings, emotions, or moods manage our daily existence and even make possible the emergence of consciousness. Finally, we will discuss the necessity of implementing emotions into machines. Do robots or computers must have emotions? >> Hey. >> If so, will those emotions be like ours? >> He is the crazy one. >> Thanks for your time. I hope to see you soon. You, not him. >> Bye.
