[MUSIC] Hey Gary, do you have a minute? >> Of course. I just found out about a problem with one of our products, and as brand manager I just wanted to let you know about it right away. >> Of course, what is it? >> It has to do with our On the Go line. Our latest treadmill, Model 8713 that we released three months ago, last week there was a near fatality reported in New Mexico. It appears to be due to equipment failure. >> No, you sure it was our fault and not user error? >> The police report indicates that the cause of malfunction appears to be due to faulty wiring. It also includes a victim statement. The victim says he was running and, quote, all of a sudden there was a power surge, a massive jolt that threw me off the treadmill. He's an elderly man, he fell and bumped his head on the floor, he suffered a concussion, he seems to be fine, but his doctor's say it could have been much worse. >> That's terrible, thank goodness he's okay. Faulty wiring, this is out of nowhere, have you done any further product testing. >> Yes, and the bad news continues. >> What do you mean? >> Well, it appears that after the treadmills been steady use for up to eight hours it basically over heats, which causes a problem with the wiring. >> Are you kidding me? >> I wish I was. >> All of our research and user testing never caught this until after the treadmill was on the market? >> No, I'm sorry Gary. What should we do? >> How many units are we talking about? There's no way to be sure, but we've sold 4000 units to date. >> On the Go is our most successful product ever. The company's finally yielding a profit after five years of financial instability. A recall would cost us thousands, not to mention what it would do to our reputation. >> Well, there's only one documented case like this, but there's no telling how many more people could be injured or killed. >> Just one is bad enough. >> Well, we could hold all further manufacturing and shipping, but we need to know if you want to issue a recall. It's completely your decision, Gary. What do you want to do? >> [MUSIC]
