[MUSIC] Welcome to MOOC Two, the second of six pre-MBA MOOCs that you'll have the opportunity to complete. In this MOOC we've got four weeks working together where we'll be exploring different aspects of the professional skills that you're likely going to need in an international context. Throughout the MOOC you'll have many opportunities to check your understanding, to reflect on your learning and to apply your learning to an organizational context. Each of those aspects, I really encourage you to take every opportunity because by doing this you will be really reinforcing what you have learnt. You'll be really thinking about what it is that you've embraced with each time period that you devote to your studies. That then means your learning becomes embedded and there's a greater chance then that you'll take this learning with you. In week one of this MOOC, we'll be looking at a number of key areas. And our objectives are as follows. Firstly, we'll be looking about creating a positive first impression, that first point of contact. And think about what a first impression looks like in today's more complex organizational setting. Secondly, you'll be recognizing the importance of creating that positive first impression. How significant or insignificant is that first impression? The next area that we'll be looking at is where you explain several practical techniques to build collaborative stakeholder relationships. Whilst doing that, you'll consider what a stakeholder is, who your key stakeholders are. Why, where and when it' s important to build this series of collaborative stakeholder relationships. We'll then move on, to consider the differences between verbal and non-verbal communication. And also, explore to an extent, the balance between when we communicate verbal and non-verbal communication. And then the final area that we'll look at this week is choosing the most appropriate communication delivery channel from a range of options. You'll know, perhaps from your own experience and in your own organization or in a previous organization, that there can be a range of different ways in which we can communicate with each other. Some facilitated by technology, others purely face to face so more directly interactive. I hope you enjoy this week. Half way through the week you'll have the chance to undertake a series of quiz questions which are assessed but they are all going to check your understanding on key parts of your learning. At other points you'll have regular opportunities to test and challenge theory in the context of your workplace. As we said at the start, always look to enjoy and embrace your learning at every opportunity. Thank you. [MUSIC]
