I've done a significant amount of personal work, and while I knew some of the information delivered in the course (for example miswanting, or how meditation and sleep affect your mood/outlook) it was very interesting to solidify my acquired personal knowledge by understand the science behind it all. I also like how the course doesn't just provide knowledge, but really motivates you to putting your knowledge into action with step by step support. Great course, with actionable insight. Time well spent!

The title says it all: get ready to learn the scientific underpinnings of achieving that elusive sense of wellbeing that we're all longing for in life but can't quite seem to achieve. The science, research, data, and findings of studies done by some of the top positive psychologists and minds of the neuroscientific community added weight to this course, taking it from being a fluffy pop psychology lecture to an intensive 10-week reworking of habits. I found The Science of Well-Being to be life-changing.

I started this course in January out of complete curiosity that what possibly could a course of 10 weeks long teach us about well-being and all thanks to this lockdown that I was finally able to complete this course today.

This is an outstanding course! Easy to follow, interesting, scientifically backed, and just a joy to participate in. I was able to change into a more positive and productive mindset as taught in this course. I highly recommend it to everyone regardless of your profession or background.

I wish I had come across this type of a lecture when I was young. Many of the points discussed in the course are now either known or at least intuitive for someone my age, but it's still reassuring to know the there's research that backs up my intuition. Anyone in their late teens or early twenties who're moving up in life must take this course because it'll give them the right perspective early on so that they don't have to learn after making mistakes, rather they can avoid those mistakes altogether.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The content was engaging, the rewirements were vital to putting this into practice, and I can honestly say this was lifechanging. I have done a lot of soul searching and self awareness in the last 10 years, and I so appreciated how this brought many new and old elements of what I've learned together while putting it in real world terms and scenarios. Dr. Laurie Santos is a gem, and I am confident she could teach anything and it would enliven and alter my perspective.

I enjoyed this course very much, it did teach me to be more aware of other feelings besides my own. I pay attention to saying hello to strangers and giving them a smile maybe even when I am not feeling it. I started walking again, which is amazing by itself, it has been about 7 years since I did walk each day. I have lost about 20 lbs. so far and will continue striving to stay in shape. Thank you for making me aware of savoring, and friendships and constantly working toward being happy every day!

Fantastic course on how the brain actually works for Well-Being. Backed by empirically validated science, it explains how everything we think make us happy doesn't, and how you can rewire your brain and re-frame your view, and in turn increase actual happiness. It has made a huge impact on my life, it will for you too if you take on the re-wirement protocols outlined on the course and absorb the information. Presented brilliantly by Laurie Santos, she has made it easily digestible. Highly recommend.

I was so delighted to be able to do this course, particularly during a really tough time thanks to furlough and the national lockdowns. I feel blessed that there was no charge too - truly Yale are giving back and I have felt the benefits over the period of the course. A clear, easy to follow lecture style with practical implementation makes this something I can use in my everyday life moving forwards. Thanks to Laurie and everyone at Yale for giving me the course and a taste of Ivy League life too!!

This class was the perfect combination of engaging, entertaining content and scientific data and resources applied to a personal goal everyone has: to be happier! I learned a lot and even concepts that felt "common sense" were thoroughly discussed and backed up with research. I feel enlightened and more resilient having taken this class. I've worked on my "re-wirements" and feel the better for it. I recommend this course highly for anyone who wants to add some tools to their toolbox of life skills.

I LOVED THIS COURSE!! I believe Dr.Laurie Santos is incredibly intelligent and really love to learn from! She brought in so much data and digestible scientific research. This whole course is teaching everything that is common sense, but that in our society we overlook our thoughts and behaviors so easily. This course will help you rethink our daily practices and will encourage you to challenge what you thought was making us happy and will teach you the key things to increase our overall well-being!

I love this course so much! Great recommendations on how to live your best life, grounded in science. I have done a lot of work around personal growth in the past few years and I wasn't sure how much I would really learn, but a friend organized a group to take the course together so I figured why not. I really did learn some new strategies and approaches to well-being, and my happiness scores increased pre- to post- course. I only wish I'd had something like this decades ago when I was in college.

I found the course to be really pleasant, informative and I really looked forward to the lectures. I am really happy the course has given me an array of tools to use to be happier. One of the guests pointed out happiness is like a leaky tire you have to keep filling up. I love that analogy and if I feel my tire is starting to deflate a bit I can go to the happiness toolbox and choose from my strengths, gratitude, kindness, connections, sleep, exercise, meditation, etc. to pump the tire back up.

Evidence-based research and engaging lecture content, coupled with weekly challenges, made for an exceptional learning experience. Most of the "strategies" shared were things I thought I already knew. But to have those strategies clearly explained and backed by scientific research, it made incorporating them into my daily life easy and exciting! I feel better than I have in a long time and am happy to be thoroughly engaged in the lifelong, ever-changing, dynamic pursuit of happiness and wellbeing.

Backed by years of research, the information and skills you learn in this course can help you to direct your own happiness, if you're willing to put in the time. You get to learn on your own time and there are great ways to find out more information. This is appealing to all learners in that you can read, watch more videos and take notes as you'll need them to help you through the quizzes. I've learned valuable information that weill help me in my work to become more mindful and increase my joy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course and feel that everyone could benefit from it. The style of course delivery is informal which makes the content more approachable, and this is complemented by the fact that the topics covered are relevant to everyday life and therefore hold your attention. I even enjoyed the additional reading material and videos and I have signed up to the Happiness Lab podcast. Of all the Coursera courses I signed up to, this is the one I looked forward to learning more about.

Great instructor and a good insight of what balance really helps you to find a sustainable way to include new behaviors which will help you to be more aware with yourself and your surrounding. Also the facts and studies really helped to become a good feeling of the thought that happiness is YOUR own choice and not the choice of your life circumstances and people who surround you (just saying...40% is under your control and just 10% of the feeling of happiness comes from your life circumstances!).

Very insightful first half talking about research on well-being and positive psychology. I liked the academic context for this rich subject and learned so much such as how our minds are so bad at estimating what will make us happy. Money, a good grade, a good job, a big house...all those are illusions that don't really make us happy.

My favorite part was the second half which focused on what DOES make us happy - things like being kind, social connection, meditation, exercise, time with loved ones.

I truly enjoyed the content given in this course. The science presented to authenticate the seemingly insignificant changes to promote daily well- being were very convincing. The fact that I truly experienced improvement in overall well- being and level of happiness while completing the challenges given has encouraged me to continue to practice what I have learned. I may even repeat this course in a year for the motivation alone! Thank you for making this course so easily assessable online.

I believe this course can be of value to many individuals seeking not only knowledge but actionable tools or resources to help them develop and improve their overall well-being. This course provided me a plethora of different options (diverse) and provided actionable steps to support the student in the journey. And at the end of the course one can measure their progress and use tools to continue long after the course has ended to continue their development and improvement. I highly recommend!

This course show why so many people are unhappy. They are focussing on all kinds of things that really do not contribute to sustainable happiness. This course helps you discover what actually does help to be more happy and focussed in life. And while the solutions seem easy at first, it is quite hard to set up routines to keep them in place. Fortunately the course also recognises that challenge and takes care of it. I recommend this course to anyone who would like to feel a bit happier in life.

I think it's a very benificial lesson for any learners or psychology students. I liked the techniques in this course and it seems we don't really act upon our happiness. We say we want happiness but in order to be that we need to use some technics. For me this course helped me. I tell people around me these techniques. When the first year of my psych. education in Turkey i watched Moralities of everyday life's lessons of Yale, now i a a graduated find another amazing lesson. Thank you so much !
